PSAC Course/School Descriptions
The basic program consists of shorter courses and learning activities that members can take in their communities and workplaces, providing both members and new representatives with basic knowledge and skills.
The advanced program builds on the knowledge and skills developed through union activity and the basic program. Advanced courses are normally three days or more, and prerequisites are usually required.
The Atlantic School is union education at its best, offering several courses under one roof, as well as speakers and workshops. It is an opportunity for new and experienced activists to learn and network with others, and return to workplaces and locals educated and energized to work on behalf of the membership.
Your Local Education Coordinator or a member of the local executive can help you sign up for education. If you are unsure who to approach, contact your regional office for information. Some courses require the completion of a registration or application form. Depending on the activity, financial assistance may be available through allowances, reimbursement of expenses, subsidies or scholarships.
Visit the PSAC-Atlantic Council page for information on the role of the education committee, contact information and committee terms of reference.
Contact your representative on the education committee and review the committee's terms of reference.
Alliance Facilitators (AFs) are an important and vital part of our education program. AFs conduct information sessions or workshops, primarily at the workplace and in the local.
All members are invited to comment on our 2007 - 2009 Regional Education Plan and provide suggestions on how we can better respond to the learning needs of the region.
